Pieces of An Unfinished Riddle
God is constantly challenging our faith when it may feel as if we are lost in our own journey throughout our walk as we look to God for answers in terms of how he continues working in our lives to help us find purpose and meaning in our lives relationship with Christ.
Watch as poet Luke Katafiasz shares his testimonial about his journey to find God.
Pieces of an Unfinished Riddle
There was a time when I searched my mind and scoured my soul looking for the essence of what God IS. I walked many dark pathways, and went down labyrinthine corridors of thought, muddled in confounding and contradicting verse. I argued with myself about right and wrong what is, and what should be
I found Nothing but an inner critic, a seething rules lawyer, and a self-righteous hypocrite staring back in the mirror. And then, I looked up and outward and saw God. And this, this is what I found:
I found a God of Earth. A god of fertile soil and distant suns, an architect to both atoms and galaxies A god of genomes, food chains, and ecosystems; of families, nations, and neighbors; all dependent on each other A god of uncomfortable stretching and painful yet invigorating growth, of life beyond mere continued existence.
I found a God of Water. A god of erratic storms and consistent tides, of deep transcendent cycles: the soaring ups and crashing downs A god of disillusioned frustration unexpectedly transformed, of willful transgression and miraculous reconciliation A god that takes what would otherwise be surrendered and reveals, restores, empowers the lives and choices we make.
I found a God of air A god of continuous motion and reflective stillness the whispered call for change in our world and in ourselves A god of enthusiastic action and simple heartfelt prayer, inter-locking pieces in a picture of a much larger scale A god of dancing bodies on the earth and in the heavens, joyfully advancing to the celestial hum of unfolding greatness.
I found a God of Fire A god of burning illumination, seeking and stumbling
of distant beacons and inner compasses A god of enlightened voice and inspired vision the spreading glow of warmth and wisdom A god of conviction, passion, endless dawns, and undeniable hope the blazing reflection sparkling at the center of our personal radiance.
I found a God of order A god of ultimate logos, reason, and truth, of precise intent and complex interwoven systems A god of expanding knowledge, discipline, and integrity faithfully upholding the spirit and letter of both law and promise A god of lofty ideals, hard facts, and everyday occurrences building towards a deeper and fuller understanding
I found a God of chaos a god of free choice, dynamic creativity, wonder, and possibility uninhibited by our expectations and interpretations A god that plays fast and loose, fudging the details where needed unashamed to adapt the plan when choices and changes are made A god of purest pathos, laughter, and love who trusts us with our part of a grander story.
I found a God of the Unknown A god of imperceptible existence, paradox, puzzles, and empty silence, of divine mysteries and questions that have no easy answer A god outside of all experience, beyond hypothetical concepts and what-ifs of incompressible motives, accountable to no one A god of everything that comes after and secrets revealed,
of justified intangibles, true value, and meaningful lives.
So I looked up and outward and saw God. The God of matter and spirit; life and darkness; light and death and what I found was whole, perfect, and complex but far from finished. A God of eternal being Am, Is, Was, and Will be. Too vast and too varied. To do more than hint at with more words than symbols.
